The GT500 Class 2005 Xanavi Nismo 350Z at Suzuka

After a much needed week off, we’re back and resuming our focus on the iconic Nissan “Z” car as we lead up to this weekend’s coverage of the 2012 Z Nationals gathering in Atlanta, Georgia. First up, an awesome photo featuring the hugely successful #1 Xanavi Nismo 350Z competing in the dramatic rain-soaked finish to the 2005 Japanese Super GT championship race.

It doesn’t get more interesting than a GT500 spec NISMO 350Z racing in the rain…on the Japanese Mie Prefecture’s legendary Suzuka Circuit for the 2005 Super GT Championship.

Nissan’s 2008 1-2 GTR Finish @ Suzuka

Today we take a moment to reflect on a great 1-2 victory for the Nissan GTR in 2008′s Super GT race at the Suzuka Circuit.

Designed as a Honda test track in 1962 by John Hugenholtz, Suzuka is one of few circuits in the world to have a "figure 8" layout, with the back straight passing over the front section by means of an overpass. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)

2006 HONDA/RAYBRIG GT500 NSX
