A Very Special ’01 S15 Plies the Streets of Philadelphia

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On August - 28 - 2012

An immaculate 2001 Nissan S15 Silvia…is not something you would expect to see plying the streets of downtown Philadelphia or any American city for that matter but yet that is exactly what this tribute-built show car does best.

Today’s photo of the day comes to us from “the city of brotherly love”, a fitting moniker given the charitable nature and origin of this stateside S15 show car with a story. 2001 TVR Tuscan Speed 6 Cup-Racer

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On June - 9 - 2012

We end this week of TVR’s with an all-go and no-show example of the Tuscan Speed 6 doing what it does best…unabashedly plying the race track…

Even though there have been numerous tweaks to the Tuscan's chassis and suspension, the overall size and appearance of the variants remain virtually identical apart from minor aerodynamic aids to the S model adding a front under-tray and a small boot-lid spoiler on the rear. 1962 TVR Grantura Series II Racer

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On June - 7 - 2012

It’s “Throwback Friday” around here and in honor of the day we’ve decided to highlight a vintage TVR racer doing exactly what it did best; racing.

Featuring a 1600CC MGA engine the Series II Grantura was capable of 0-60 mph in 12 seconds with a top speed of 98.4mph...not impressive by modern standards though what is impressive is that the car was able to achieve this while averaging an impressive 27.3mpg fuel economy. Thursday’s child has far to go…prophetic given the solid underpinnings the T350 established for the later Sagaris.

The TVR T350's 6-cylinder inline alloy engine featured 4 valves per cylinder and produced 350 hp with 290 lb-ft of torque. Light-weight, powerful and elegant the T350C was able to accellerate from 0-60 mph in just under 4.4 seconds. Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200

2004 TVR Sagaris

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On June - 5 - 2012

The car’s name comes from the sagaris, the Greek name of a lightweight battle-axe used by the Scythians which was feared for its ability to penetrate the armor of their enemies….

Equipped with a 380 bhp straight-six that produces 349 lb-ft of torque, the light weight TVR Sagaris weighs in at a mere 2,371 lbs making it capable of going 0-60 mph in under 3.7 seconds. Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200

1977 Datsun 260Z (RHD)

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On April - 26 - 2012

Timeless lines that define an era in Japanese sports-car culture we’re clearly taken by this beautiful ’77 260Z from the land down under…

The S30 was not a new idea, sturdy engineering, excellent performance, low prices, attractive styling, average interiors had been achieved by other manufacturers but the Z car capitalized on all these criteria and perfected the concept of a low-cost, reliable, sports car. Posted by Robert.Maddrey On April - 25 - 2012

It’s our 3rd day this week with the RHD 260Z and this S30 just keeps looking better and better…

The Nissan S30 (sold in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Zebra) and in other markets as the Datsun 240Z, 260Z and 280Z was the first generation of Z GT two-seat coupe. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)

1977 Datsun 260Z (RHD)

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On April - 24 - 2012

Yep, this week we are featuring an entire shoot with the same modified Australian S30 260Z courtesy of our friends down-under @ Downshiftaus.

260Z models had bumpers that resembled those of the earlier 240Z, though increased slightly in size, pushed away from the body somewhat, and wearing black rubber bumper guards rather that the previous chrome bumper guards with rubber strips. These early cars still had the front turn signals located below the bumpers. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)
