Photo of the Day: 1977 Datsun 260Z (RHD)

We’re kicking this week off with a classically modified S30 chassis; old school-mods complete with JDM mirrors, THE BRE spoiler and ZG fender flares…

The 260Z debuted a redesigned dashboard and console, as well as new seat trim, and door panels for the interior. The rear tail lights were updated, moving the reverse lights from the main tail light housing to the back panel. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)

Photo of the Day: 1936 MG NB Magnette Airline Coupe

We end our week filled with influential 1930′s sportscars with the British ’36 MG NB Magnette Airline Coupe, a technologically advanced design that would revolutionize the British sportscar and performance scene for decades to come.

The two-door design featured an elegantly curved roof merging into a streamlined rear panel in which the spare wheel was partially countersunk. The doors carried sliding windows, and each Airline coupé featured a sunshine roof. This actually consisted of three separate trapezoidal-like celluloid panels. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)

Photo of the Day: 1937 Mercedes-Benz W125

Due to the non-competitiveness of their W25 car, Mercedes pulled out of the 1936 Grand Prix Season midway through the year in order to concentrate on designing a car that would see them return to the top of the rankings…

The W125 made its first competitive outing in May at the 1937 Tripoli Grand Prix with Mercedes-Benz entering four cars. German Hermann Lang won his first Grand Prix motor race to give the W125 a victory on its début and provide Mercedes with their first victory over rivals Auto Union since May 1936. Another icon of the 1930′s. the influential SSK was the last car designed for Mercedes-Benz by famed engineer Ferdinand Porsche before leaving to found his own company…

Fitted with a supercharged single overhead camshaft 7-litre straight-6 engine producing 200–300 metric horsepower and over 500 lb·ft of torque. (HQ Image Available - 1920x1200)

Further exploring Tuesday’s visit to the 1930′s, today we take a look at one of the most influential European sportscars of that decade, the iconic BMW 328.

Inspired by an associate’s facebook posting, today’s photo of the day takes us back to the the early 20th century in the form of the amazing 1935 supercharged Auburn “Boattail” speedster.

The Auburn Boattail Speedster was a car frequently seen in Hollywood and was powered by a 4.6L straight eight that, with the popular supercharger option (150hp) and could top out at an astounding 100mph. (Click to Enlarge - 1920x1200)
