An Unlikely Autocross Platform the 2008 G37 Coupe

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On April - 27 - 2013

Big Brother To Nissan’s 370Z Today’s Photo of the Day Shows Us That the G37 Coupe Likes To Have Fun In Parking Lots Too

Sure it’s a bigger car than the Z but that’s never stopped any Infiniti G37 coupe enthusiast from having fun in their car…and why should it? The GTR is after-all a bigger car and you would be hard pressed to find anyone willing to second guess the fun-factor for that platform.

The five year development program for the V36 began in 2002, with conclusion in 2006 for the sedan and 2007 for the coupe. Design work started in 2003 and continued into 2004, when Hideo Komuro’s design was chosen for the sedan. The coupe design process was later completed in the first half of 2005, with a conceptual variant being readied for public introduction.

Taking Down Shift Magazine’s NISMO 370Z Downtown

Posted by Eliza.Thompson On March - 31 - 2013

NISMO 370Z, Editor Robert Maddrey’s Latest Addition To the “Z” Collection

NISMO has always been synonymous with Nissan’s Motorsports initiatives but not until the NISMO 350Z did American consumers really get a good taste for what the NISMO treatment fully entailed. Sure we had seen the NISMO Desert Runner and a few others, but nothing to the scope of the NISMO 350Z. Thankfully this design and performance ethos carried over to the next generation of “Z” car in the form of the  beautifully refined NISMO 370Z.

Remember the NSX Files? Just As Exotic 20 Years Later

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On March - 22 - 2013

Few Cars Have Aged Quite So Well As Honda’s Genre Bending NSX, the Affordable Japanese Supercar

Beautiful, functional, opulent and under-powered; three very accurate adjectives that aptly describe the iconic Honda/Acura NSX. A car now more than 20 years old that still screams supercar and carries an according inflated price-tag even on the used car market. In many ways this car defined a generation and inspired many children of the 80′s and 90′s to pursue JDM dreams.

Big Fun, Small Displacement – Caterham Supersport R

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On March - 12 - 2013

One of the Most Flat Out Fun Cars To Drive the Caterham Supersport R Packs A Lot Into A Little

Caterham Cars’ Chief Executive, Graham Macdonald, said: “The Supersport’s formula has struck a chord with driving enthusiasts and we are confident that, by extending the range to include an R model, we will be able to build on the original’s success.

Caterham Supersport R 2013

As with its Lotus Seven precursors, Caterhams are constructed of aluminium sheet attached to a tubular steel chassis. Nosecone and wings are either GRP or carbon fibre depending on specification. All Sevens are front engined with rear-wheel drive and two seats. Their extremely high performance is achieved through light weight (less than 500 kg (1,102 lb) on some versions) rather than particularly powerful engines. As well as a lightweight chassis and bodywork, Caterham Sevens achieve their very low mass through their lack of comfort and safety oriented features such as a fixed roof, doors, radio, air-conditioning, airbags, traction/stability control, ABS, satellite navigation or cruise control.

2013 Caterham Seven Supersport R

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On March - 12 - 2013

The Supersport R Is Bare-Bones Light-Weight Expert Craftsmanship Personified

Caterham has added to its iconic range of Sevens, giving the acclaimed Supersport a steroid-induced brother – the two-litre Caterham Supersport R, which packs 180bhp and track-bred dynamics.

Caterham Supersport R 2013

Caterham Cars is a manufacturer of specialist lightweight Sports Cars based in Caterham, Surrey, UK. Their current model, the Caterham 7 (or Seven), is a direct evolution of the Series 3 Lotus Seven designed by Colin Chapman and originally launched in 1973. In the 1990s the company made the Caterham 21,a two-seater soft top alternative to the MGF and Lotus Elise, which both sold many more units. A track-only car, the SP/300.R, a joint project with Lola was released for customer testing in 2010 and is scheduled for release in 2013. On 27 April 2011, then-Team Lotus owner Tony Fernandes announced that he had purchased Caterham.

Because Drifting and Miata Are Two Words Not Often Thought of Together

This week our Photo of the Day segment is going to feature mobile, agile and hostile Mazda Miatas…and where better to start then with Jeff Abbott’s Garett turbo-charged green monster.

Putting the 2013 Viper SRT Through It’s Paces

Posted by Robert.Maddrey On February - 26 - 2013

Because What Fun Is Owning A New 2013 Viper SRT If You Can’t Track It?

It’s hard to disagree that the striking new Viper SRT looks more at home on a track than many legitimate track cars. Featuring aggressively fluid lines and improved Motorsports tuned suspension powered by an 8.4-lter V10 motor this latest generation of Viper truly reestablishes the Viper as a performance driver’s brand.

2013 SRT Viper

Official approval from Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca came in May 1990. One year later, Carroll Shelby piloted a pre-production car as the pace vehicle in the Indianapolis 500 race. In November 1991, the car was released to reviewers with first retail shipments beginning in January 1992.
