Austin Texas Prepares for V8 Thunder from Down Under with Australia’s Exciting V8 Supercar’s Inaugural Austin 400 Appearance

While F1 may fit the image of a city that bills itself as America’s cultural and live music capital, an unknown Australian series renowned for rough and tumble racing among largely unfamiliar cars seems a much less likely attraction. But in the lead-up to V8 Supercars’ latest and most ambitious foreign foray, interest in the Aussie invasion is surprisingly widespread and building to something akin to excitement.

The Australian V8 Supercars, Australia’s most popular motor sport, features 650-horsepower, rear-wheel-drive machines from Ford, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz AMG and General Motors’ Australian arm, Holden, which will run wheel-to-wheel in the series’ first race in the United States.

Italian Design Balanced By Modern Chinese Sensibility Gives The World A New Hybrid Supercar, the Vulcano.

Italian/Chinese design house Icona has revealed its Vulcano supercar in Shanghai and based on initial images and performance specs, the one-off GT seems to live up to its magma-inspired moniker. Look out Ferrari and Lamborghini there may be some fiery new competition coming your way.

Alongside its astonishing performance and pedigree, the design of the Icona Vulcano is an evolution of the very advanced form language which was first introduced on the Icona Fuselage concept in 2011 by Samuel Chuffart, Icona’s design director. The aim of the design approach is to express the amazing capabilities of this extremely powerful car, while maintaining harmonious and generous shapes: bringing together the Beauty and the Beast.

CORE Autosport Will Debut Their New Porsche GT Program In Monterey

ROCK HILL, S.C. – CORE autosport’s long-awaited debut in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón’s GT category will take place next week in Monterey, Calif., at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. There, Porsche factory star Patrick Long and three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Tom Kimber-Smith will race the No. 06 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for the first time.

CORE autosport is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in a new 30,000 square-foot, state of the art facility. The team headquarters is located next to the composite manufacturing company Bennett founded in 1992: Composite Resources. Last week we saw the first international trailer for Ron Howard’s upcoming formula one racing biopic,RUSH, and now we have a finely chopped domestic trailer to accompany it. Whereas the international trailer had a more “action-y” feel to it, this new one capitalizes on the dramatic elements mixed with some rubber-burning tension.

The bosses of the iconic US street race in Long Beach have once again officially denied reports formula one is interested in adding Long Beach to its annual calendar. Surprising? It really shouldn’t be.

The Long Beach Grand Prix is the longest running major “street” race held on the North American continent. It started in 1975 as a Formula 5000 race on the streets of downtown, and became a Formula One event the following year. From 1984 to 2008 it was a CART Indycar/Champ Car event. Other popular events during the Grand Prix week include a Firestone Indy Lights race, an American Le Mans Series race, and the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

Grand-Am Makes Their First Visit To The World Famous Road Atlanta

While qualifying was unfortunately rained out Friday, perfect weather and excellent racing prevailed for Saturday’s Grand-Am series Visual Studio Ultimate Grand Prix of Atlanta, hosted at the beautiful and world renowned Road Atlanta motorsports facility in the hills of Braselton, Georgia just north of Atlanta.

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas combined to lead 94 of the 120 circuits on the 2.54-mile circuit in the No. 01 TELMEX BMW Riley. It was their second victory of the season and extended their lead in the Daytona Prototype standings to seven points over Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty.
