In 2009, Pratt & Miller shifted focus from the Corvette ZR1-based GT1 car into the GT2 racer known as the C6.R GT2.
The model was developed by Pratt & Miller using fluid dynamics and were limited by the GT2 regulations.
The chassis is the same as the Z06 street car, using the same steel frame, window frame, rear passenger hoop, firewall and floor pan. Mated to this is an aluminum roll cage that is fixed with a tapered aluminum sleeve special adhesives that limit galvanic corrosion. Many of the GT1 panels could be used including the safety cells and the door structures.
A new 5.5-liter engine is used that was developed in-house by GM Powertrain. Both the bore and stroke of the LS7 were reduced and the aluminum cylinder heads are standard parts from the GM performance parts catalog.
